Sharon's Home Page PictureWelcome to my site!  My name is Sharon Castillo, and this is my personal space where I talk and share about self-care.

Self-care is not only limited to the outside appearance, but it involves all facets of life. As the Oxford Reference defines it, ‘Self-care is the practice of activities that are necessary to sustain life and health, normally initiated and carried out by the individual for him- or herself.’

I’m a Christian, a Doctor of Optometry by profession and an entrepreneur by heart. I’m passionate about the Bible and how it applies to daily living. The Bible is an age-old book but is still relevant today, as when it was written. God’s Word is not only a Holy Book that we should give reverence to, but it is a book that talks about life here on earth and towards eternity. It deals not only with our spiritual life, but also how to live our earthly life.

As an example, Jesus talked a lot about how to treat our body for physical health and also for righteous living. I Corinthians 6:19-20 says, “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” Jesus is implying that we realize that we have been bought with a high price through his blood and the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, lives in us. We should avoid doing the things that would grieve the Holy Spirit who lives in every believer and should only choose activities that will give honor and glory to God.

We give our body the nourishment that it needs every day. It is only fitting that we also nourish our soul with God’s Word. Matthew 4:4 says, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” The Bible is God-breathed and is very much alive. If you want to experience joy that is unspeakable regardless of your circumstances, start reading the pages of the Book and you will never be the same.

As for me, I want my life deeply rooted in Him so I can bear spiritual fruits; hence the name, rootedonthevine.com. In all transparency, I won’t be able to maintain this blog if I’m doing it all alone. I can sufficiently say that I’m able to do the things that I’m doing because of God in me. It is my prayer and hope that you will have a deeper knowledge about God and his Word, and be transformed as you get to know my Savior who can not only make you whole, but be the person who He created you to be.

So welcome and glad to have you on board.
