Growth Mindset – The power of your thoughts

Growth Mindset -The power of your thoughts

Our mindset determines our reality. They are like the rudder that controls where we are going. As Wikipedia defines it, ‘A rudder is a primary control surface used to steer a ship, boat, submarine, hovercraft, aircraft, or other vehicle that moves though a fluid medium, generally air or water. Just like the rudder, our thoughts control where we are going. They steer our direction. So it’s important that we train our thoughts to think positive and uplifting thoughts, and not useless ones.

Do not let your mind wander aimlessly. Give it something to focus on and whatever the mind has conceived, that is what the body will follow.

Remember the plight of the Israelites when the Lord told them to conquer the Land of Canaan. After Moses gave the order to spy out the land, the spies gave a report that the land really flowed with milk and honey and was very fruitful. They cut off a branch with only one bunch of grapes on it. They carried it on a pole between two of them. They also brought some pomegranates and figs. Just one bunch of grapes — imagine that! They also reported that the people who live there are strong, and the cities have walls and are very large. They even saw the descendants of Anak there.

Caleb told the people to be quiet and listen to Moses. Caleb said, “Let’s go now and take possession of the land. We should be more than able to conquer it.”

But the men who had gone with him said, “We can’t attack those people! They’re too strong for us!” So they began to spread lies among the Israelites about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored is one that devours those who live there. All the people we saw there are very tall. We saw Nephilim there. (The descendants of Anak are Nephilim.) We felt as small as grasshoppers, and that’s how we must have looked to them.” (Numbers 13)

Looking at this story, you have 2 different reports from the 12 spies. Only Joshua and Caleb gave a positive report while the other 10 spies gave a disheartening report… despite the fact that the Lord already told them to conquer the land of Canaan.

In the same manner, when the Lord tells us to do something, we also have 2 differing thoughts. One is positive, and the other is negative. Which one would you choose?

Are you going to be like Joshua and Caleb or the 10 spies? Your choice.

When the Israelites followed the report of the 10 spies and did not move forward, they wandered in the desert for 40 years. They spied out the land for 40 days, but because of their contempt, complaining, disobedience and unbelief, the Lord let them stay in the desert for 40 years. One year for each day.

The Lord provided food, water, protection and guidance in the desert and even showed them wondrous miracles starting from Egypt all the way to their Promised Land; but still, their unbelief and scornful attitude towards God got the best of them.

As a consequence, those who were 20 and above who were witnesses to God’s miraculous powers were not allowed to enter Canaan (their Promised Land). They all died of the plaque God sent to destroy them.

Don’t let this be you. When the Lord gives you a GO signal to step in your God-given purpose, do not hesitate out of fear or unbelief. When the Lord says so, He has already provided all the resources along your path. You just have to be obedient and sensitive to all the signals He is giving you.

Do not cower done in unbelief. The Lord has great things in store for your future, but if you don’t go in step with Him, you will miss out on the grand adventure of your life. You cannot reap the rewards and benefits He has promised you.

Look at it from God’s perspective

Instead of looking at your specific life purpose as an intrusion to the life you envision for yourself, look at it as a blessing and a privilege of involving you in God’s Kingdom work. He could have given it to someone else BUT, He chose you instead.

There is no other program nor goal that could surpass that of God’s. What you have imagined for yourself fails in comparison to what God has in store for you.

Nobody has a much deeper pocked than the Lord… and nobody has a greater plan for your life than God.

So get in with His program and see how far your life will soar here and for eternity.

Now, how’s that for the utmost goal to aim for?
