Go and Conquer – This is your breakthrough

The Great I Am

When you read the story of the 12 spies sent by Moses in Numbers 13:1-33, you will see how the children of Israel responded to the spies’ report after they surveyed the land of Canaan. They had 2 very different reports: one was based on what they saw with their own eyes and perspective; the other was based on faith and God’s power.

Look at Joshua and Caleb’s report —– “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’ Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.”

If you equate this in your own life, and you feel the Lord speaking to your heart saying, ‘Enter now into your breakthrough, this is your time.’ How would you respond?

You’ve been praying for your dream to come to pass, and now the time has come for your opportunity to seize it. Did you take immediate action, or did you stall and cower because you saw your challenges were too great?

You saw the land flowing with milk and honey, and grapes so large that it takes 2 people to carry a single cluster on a pole along with some pomegranates and figs. Your land of promise is beaming with good provision for your whole family, and its fruits/rewards are so great that you can’t carry it all alone. Your issue only is that the land is inhabited by giants. Its cities are so big and fortified. Your competition is so great and you felt like a grasshopper that can just be crushed at any time.

So what are you going to do? Just like the children of Israel, you have 2 choices. You can either choose to stay or act boldly based on what God told you and his promises for you.

The Lord always answers our prayers with 3 responses: Yes, No, and Wait. He is not silent. Once you pray and stay still, and be on the lookout for what He brings across your path, you will see and discern His response. He could talk to you through dreams, through Christian ministers, books you’ve read, words from friends, even through this blog post. Yes, the Lord can use whatever means to get your attention. And He even still speaks today through his still, small voice.

When He wants to tell you something, He usually speaks in different ways with different messages, but the theme or core message is the same. Once you sense that, that is usually His prompting and guiding you on what to do and how to go about it. When He speaks 2 or 3 times or more about a particular thing, then act on it. If you are unsure, then ask Him to make it plain and clear to you, and He will.

Don’t worry if you stumble along the way or go on a different route. For as long as you are being obedient, He will direct your path. Look at what Proverbs 16:9 says, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Even if you go off course, the Lord will close doors, or block your way so that the only way to go is his path for you.

With the Lord’s GO signal, look at your challenges in the eyes of faith and in God’s perspective; and not yours. Remember, the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world (I John 4:4). It’s not your fight but the Lord’s. So take it, for the battle has already been won on your behalf.

Going back to the children of Israel, when they heard the bad report, they cried out and wanted to go back to Egypt, a place where they were enslaved for 400 years. After seeing God’s miraculous power in getting them out of Egypt — the 10 plagues, the parting of the Red Sea, and how God provided for them in the desert with manna, quails, and water as their provision — they still didn’t believe that God can give them victory over those giants. This is just so sad and a pity. One miracle after another, still their beliefs haven’t been strengthened.

Don’t let this be you. Your life is a living testament to God’s blessings and provision. You saw how God protected and provided for you. Writing your questions, challenges, and gratefulness in a journal is a good habit of keeping track of it. This is also a good way of reminding yourself how God brought you through in the past, and how he will do the same in the present, and in the future. Having a journal and reading God’s Word daily strengthens your faith. It renews your mind and keeps your inner man strong; and when faced with trying circumstances, you are armed and unperturbed because you know your God is faithful.

So go ahead and enter your breakthrough with God’s power and might.

And those giants? …… They are nothing to the ONE who is in you.
