Deal with your own dregs

Deal with your own dregs

Christianity, Health, Spiritual
In ancient Israel, during the grape harvest season, the Jews would smash the grapes to get as much liquid as they could and strain the juice by passing the liquid from one jar to another to separate the liquid from the solids that have settled at the bottom of the container. They would then do the same thing and transfer the juice to another jar to further separate the finer solids that have come together with the juice. They will do this multiple times until only the liquids have passed through. And the solids or the sediments that have settled at the bottom are called dregs. What are dregs? Cambridge Dictionary defines them as the small solid pieces that sink to the bottom of some liquids, such as wine or coffee, that are not usually drunk. It is also used metaphorically in…

Growth Mindset – The power of your thoughts

Growth Mindset – The power of your thoughts

Christianity, Health, Spiritual
Our mindset determines our reality. They are like the rudder that controls where we are going. As Wikipedia defines it, 'A rudder is a primary control surface used to steer a ship, boat, submarine, hovercraft, aircraft, or other vehicle that moves though a fluid medium, generally air or water.' Just like the rudder, our thoughts control where we are going. They steer our direction. So it's important that we train our thoughts to think positive and uplifting thoughts, and not useless ones. Do not let your mind wander aimlessly. Give it something to focus on and whatever the mind has conceived, that is what the body will follow. Remember the plight of the Israelites when the Lord told them to conquer the Land of Canaan. After Moses gave…

A Heart Of Gratitude

A Heart Of Gratitude

Christianity, Health, Spiritual
This Thanksgiving season, we should not only give thanks for all the good things we are grateful for. As Christians, thanksgiving should be a way of life; it should be a daily habit and not a onetime event that should be celebrated only during the November season. I Thessalonians 5:18 says, "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. This is counterintuitive in our culture, right? I mean, how could you be grateful if you missed your flight, your kitchen appliances break down, or your car won't start and need major repairs? But read the verse again and meditate on it. The Lord God said to give thanks in everything. So that means everything --- from the good, the bad, and the ugly. Why…

Go and Conquer – This is your breakthrough

When you read the story of the 12 spies sent by Moses in Numbers 13:1-33, you will see how the children of Israel responded to the spies' report after they surveyed the land of Canaan. They had 2 very different reports: one was based on what they saw with their own eyes and perspective; the other was based on faith and God's power. Look at Joshua and Caleb's report ----- "The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, 'a land which flows with milk and honey.' Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their…

DON’T BE LEFT BEHIND

DON’T BE LEFT BEHIND

Christianity, Health, Spiritual
We dress ourselves in the latest fashion. We crave the latest fads, gadgets and even go to extreme lengths just to be in line with the times. But all these things are only temporary. What is seen will soon pass away and what is not seen is eternal. If we pay so much attention to what is here now that will be gone tomorrow, how much more should we put emphasis on what will last forever? There has been so much buzz and craze on what happened ages ago. And it is still happening now, but it seems that people never pay close attention to Him. The Heavenly King came and is offering free gifts to everyone without reservation. His gifts last for eternity and can never be lost or…

DO YOU HAVE A PERSONAL CHRISTMAS?

DO YOU HAVE A PERSONAL CHRISTMAS?

Christianity, Health, Spiritual
What does Christmas mean to you? Is it a yearly holiday with gift-giving and wonderful food on the table with friends and family? Or it is a meaningful celebration that you commemorate and are grateful for the gift that God offered to you and the entire world? Jesus is the real reason we have Christmas. Without Him, we wouldn’t even celebrate it. Christ is the base word for Christmas. Jesus came to seek you and would like to have a relationship with you. Have you received His gift of salvation or you just know that He came, but have done nothing with the gift that God offered? So I ask again. Do you have a personal Christmas? If not, don’t let this year end without having Christ in your…

DREAM BIG AND WORK ON IT

DREAM BIG AND WORK ON IT

Christianity
We all have goals and dreams in our lives, but some of us only settle for something less. Maybe you feel that you are not qualified enough, you don’t have the right skills, resources, or  experience for it. We are all familiar with these thoughts and feelings, aren’t we? These are all normal and even beneficial because it moves us to do something about it. If you look at those who are living their dreams, they too didn’t have everything, but they still went head on. Whatever they lacked, be it in knowledge, skill set, finances, or experience, that didn’t stop them from reaching their goals. They worked with whatever they had at their disposal and learned the needed skills along the way. As a Christian, the Lord has…

Why Worry?

Why Worry?

Christianity, Health
Photo Credit:  DailyVerses.net   If you listen to the news, most of the reports are about pestilence, wars, corruption and civil unrest. And it's easy to fall prey to worry with all these circumstances surrounding us. But do you really need to worry? I think we should work and prepare for such things, but worry shouldn't be one of them. Worry doesn't do you any good. It only robs you of your joy. Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own (Matthew 6:34). The Bible says that you can't add a single hour to your life by worrying (Matthew 6:27). So Why Should You? If you're a Christian, with the coronavirus pandemic that is troubling the world today, then…

How To Make This Christmas Season Your Best Ever

How To Make This Christmas Season Your Best Ever

Christianity
Today is Christmas Day. While you are done unwrapping your presents and enjoyed the occasion with your friends and family members, it would be worthwhile to step back and reflect on the real reason for this holiday season. Two thousand years ago, God’s Son, Jesus Christ, came to earth as a baby to live among us. The Creator of the universe decided to make Himself known to his creation through his Only Son and to be born by a peasant girl, Mary. Though I would no longer elaborate on the whole story since this is all too familiar, I would like to turn your attention to Jesus who suffered an excruciating pain at the cross so you can live with Him in heaven for eternity. The blood that came…
